COLOMBO (AFP) – The United Nations on Wednesday accused the Tamil Tigers of siphoning off food meant for severely malnourished children in Sri Lanka's embattled north. The UN said a high energy food supplement known as "BP-100" found on a Tamil Tiger rebel killed in ongoing fighting was sent for children in the region in June 2007."The United Nations deplores that such life saving items, destined for severely malnourished children, were diverted from their intended purpose," the UN said in a statement. There was no immediate comment from the Tigers. The defence ministry says troops are on the verge of defeating the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) who have been fighting for a separate homeland since 1972.
You are right! The sad thing is that this has been going on for years, as the GOSL sends aid, the LTTE stops the trucks, takes them over and use it mostly for their cadres. Recently a Vanni operation video showed the SL soldiers discover that these Rice bags were used to make bunkers by the LTTE... Why these are not questioned and condemned by the international media (Canadian Liberals) are the biggest questions! There's no justice for the truth!
