This is an interview given by a retired us department of state employee who was a political specialist at the American embassy in Sri Lanka. He describes how Sri Lanka has been misunderstood by the international community in her struggle against Tamil tiger (LTTE) terrorism.

He brings forward facts using his broad experience as a political analyst and researcher in Sri Lankas American Embassy for 25 years. He says that all ethnic communities, Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and plantation Indian Tamils who were domiciled in the countrys 77% rural areas got a raw deal for many decades creating grievances among all communities. He contends that LTTE terrorism and Tamil grievances are two separate issues.
